On the site of the historic China Gardens which were begun sometime between 1852 and 1867. Here was a community garden provided by the property owners most likely for a share of the produce/fruit. The location was chosen due to a spring that supplied water during the "dry season". The spring fed a small dug pond and is now filling a large pond, dug in the late 1960's or early 1970's. Springs are rare along the coast. We began farming in 1985 and were certified organic by CCOF in 1989. All production is used by our onsite restaurant The Ravens at the Stanford Inn by the Sea.
