The Real Organic Project is a farmer-led movement created to distinguish soil-grown and pasture-raised products under USDA organic. In response to the lack of enforcement of some vital USDA Organic standards to protect soil health and animal welfare, organic farmers rallied together to fight to protect the integrity of the organic label.

As the USDA organic seal has been increasingly reduced to a marketing brand, it is clear that a spark was needed to reinvigorate the organic farming movement and reclaim the organic label. In response, the Real Organic Project educates and advocates for the foundations of organic farming through our symposia, podcasts, and “add-on” certification program. As part of our mission-driven outreach, we are filling the void left by the failures of integrity, transparency, and public processes at the USDA National Organic Program.
