Toxic Harvest: The Increasing Use of Pesticides

Decades since the USDA Organic label launched in 2000, most American shoppers would be surprised to learn that pesticide use in the US is dramatically on the rise – as is cancer, superweeds, and the amount of midwestern runoff that has created a dead zone in the Gulf of Mexico. Although the Organic movement has faced criticism for its “outdated focus on chemicals”, this expert-packed session provides the latest research reminding us that biocides are still a huge problem for human and planetary health, and will showcase how other areas of the world are using organic acreage to make environmental gains.
