Jean-Martin Fortier
Internationally recognized as an expert on small-scale organic vegetable production, Jean-Martin Fortier has made it his mission to share his expertise and vision to support the multiplication of small ecological farms and thus promote a global agricultural transition towards food systems based in nature and community.
Jean-Martin Fortier is the founder, with his wife Maude-Hélène Desroches, of Les Jardins de la Grelinette in Saint-Armand, Quebec. The internationally recognized micro-farm is known for its high productivity and profitability. Based on Les Jardins de la Grelinette proven track record, he published The Market Gardener, A Successful Grower’s Handbook for Small-Scale Organic Farming in 2012. The book has been amazingly fruitful in spreading organic market gardening to a younger generation. JM has enhanced this effort by creating the highly successful online Market Gardeners Masterclass.
Les Jardins de la Grelinette was one of the pilot farms for the Real Organic Project. He has been interviewed 3 times on the Real Organic Podcast, and has his own successful Podcast called the Market Gardener Podcast which has featured Dave, Linley, and Eliot.
